    Converting OBD1 too OBD2

Is it possible to convert a OBD1 car to run a OBD2 ECU ?

Is it just a case of removing the OBD1 flashing light box and fitting a OBD2 socket ?

Or is it a little more complex than that ?

    Thanks

Ahh, you have the same problem as me!

I'm going to be fitting mine next weekend

You need an OBD2 port (Got mine out of a vectra, need to move a few wires)
3 wires - Live, earth and signal

    Pin 4 - Earth
    Pin 16 - Live
Pin 7 - To pin B36 on the ECU

Is 4.3 different to 4.4 as there are more than 3 wires going to the socket

You only need 3 leads on the obd2 socket, live, earth and the k-line to use a m4.4.

Dont want it for 4.4 tho after spaked to bomb the other wires are for abs etc so I assume I could connect them to the wires leading to the obd1 port I the engine bay and get them to work I may try it but only need the obd2 port for data

Hopefully in a couple of days I will get chance to try this I've got a socket from another Volvo and also got the ecu connectors so I can rob a pin.
I don't know if there's different colour wires on each model but pin b36 looks to be a purple and white wire but looking at the back of the obd2 socket there isn't a purple and white wire to pin 7 so weather it changes colour down the line for some reason I don't know.
Hopefully it works and then I will be able to put a definite response on it working and what to do.

If it's just for reading the codes, you don't even need the obd port, just wire in a switch and push button.

Neither the M4.3 or M4.4 ecu can read/monitor the oil temp.

As above, on the 850 (or the p1 x70) there is only an oil pressure sensor which triggers when the pressure drops below a certain level.

You would need to add an oil temp sensor and a gauge to monitor the oil temp.

I did not know that...i will add the gauge then.
But the rest will be fine for monitoring...

    Thanks!
