D5 Leak off test, the CHEAP way

My car has a very slight misfire on startup and at 1500 revs when warm, the glow plugs have been tested and are ok, so I thought id check the injectors. Looking on Ebay, a leak off kit was about £20, but Id read posts where people just said remove the leak off pipes and see which injector leaked the worst. So Ive come up with a slightly cheaper / better idea to
see if I had a leaky injector....................bottle tops! 8-10mm hole drilled into the top of a plastic bottle top, bung them on upside down to catch the diesel and and start the car for 10 seconds and see if they fill

Can you spot the leaky one

    A-Team diagnostics! love it

No. 5 has a bit of a pool going on.

Pots 2 & 3 appear to be wet around where the injector goes into the head. If that's fuel, they'll need resealing. Could just be splashback where you took the tops off tho.

Yeah, a bit of "splash back" and not so tight fitting tops (wobbly drill) but 5 is definitely the offender here, replacement ordered

    Interesting!

How much does it cost to do the injectors on a D5?

I sometimes feel like I have a slightly miss/hesitation. If you change into third quite early, say 20mph-ish, it sometimes hesitates a bit. Not in a low revs kind of a way, just doesn't feel quite right. Always wondered if it was a problem or just me being fussy.

Try that little test and see if you have a leaky one. Mine had a rattle when on load as well (pinking sort of)
You need a T30 Star Torx and a 3/8 socket set maybe, it took me 5 mins to swap. Buy some new copper washers off ebay. I used the existing clamps and pipes etc etc. You can get a second hand injector off Ebay for about £50-£60 delivered, just make sure its the right type. 1, 2, or 3. Its stamped in a circle on top of the injector.

They CAN be very hard to get out, Im lucky that mine where swapped into a replacement engine about 2 months ago so came out very easily.

If you need anymore info, let me know.
    Thankyou, Goodnight....much love
