I'm assuming that you fitted a Bosch unit? Afterall, your mechanic told you to and many on here have also said not to fit Patent parts, only OEM.
If you fitted a Bosch unit, then that's a very good price. I managed to find a brand new Bosch MAF for my car, in it's sealed box, for only £89 delivered. That's the entire MAF including the body, not just the sensor! The very same part, in a Blue Volvo box is, as you say, £300. As long as the part# is identicle and it says BOSCH then it's exactly the same as Volvo OE fit part.

Would it not be better to fit a second hand volvo unit, rather than a new aftermarket one, given how temperamental they can be and especially yours.

Got some bad news for Lee, I've found cheaper ones! They're genuine Bosch units and guess what, they're brand new....
Even with shipping from the USA they come in at just over £80. Good things come to those who wait, right Lee...?????

Or this one for £79.99 (definitely not a one off)!

I've sent the other one I purchased from the Main Stealers, back for a refund and got a new Bosch unit for £79.99. Can't argue with that.
Oh, and I've made sure the Bosch part number is exactly the same as that stamped on the MAF housing from my old sensor. Should work a treat.
Fair do's mate. Hope it works. If it doesn't, probably best not to share it on here!!!! LOL

I know it makes no odds now as you've ordered one from the UK, but just to point out that if buying from the US (or anywhere outside the UK for that matter) you have to remember that you may get stung on import tax, so it could end up costing more overall.
Out of interest, how much did it cost for the diagnostic work, and what was the place that did it? Where they a tuning place, Volvo specialist, or just a general garage (assuming not if they had their own rolling road)?
2001 V70 T5 (Manual) - The Turnip
1999 9-5 Aero (Manual) - Sven
The diagnostics were £50 and yes, the guy is a tuning specialist. I get a discount on a remap for having the diagnostics done there (basically the cost of the diagnostics is knocked off the mapping session if I go back).
The guy is very knowledgeable and he talks a lot of sense so I've booked the car in with him for a remap on the 10th of October, the cost to me will be £245 including another diagnostics session as part of the remapping package.
I won't mention where just yet, I want to gauge his 'start to finish' service first and see how it goes.
