Basically, it's doing what it did when you took it for a drive around the block when I came to see you a few months back. Sometimes it starts fine, sometimes it coughs, chokes, splutters and then there's a very strong petrol smell. I have to gently raise the revs to get it to settle.

I think Vida will tell me what the issue is when I get it.

On a side note, the boost sometimes seems to drop off just under 4000rpm and then come back again.

I would check the volts of the battery as if your using the battery for two cars to start the engine, the D5 will take more out of the battery `cos of the compression ratio.

The petrol T5 will take less out of the battery to start but the motors are still sensor reliant for starting and running and the battery must be up to scratch!

If the battery is below 10.5 volts the combustion in the engine suffers........don`t ask me why as i thought the alternator would take over but it doesn`t work that way!

If the battery is in good nick it doesn`t matter how many times you disconnect as the ECU reverts back to basics so therefore will run and start ok......... it only adapts when you start to drive.

In the winter i don`t use my V70 that much and only drive about 4 miles each time so i am always taking the battery indoors to charge and the car is fine no problems.

Everytime I've done that by accident before and started it up, the car throws a complete hissy-fit and tries to stall. It's like the MAF must be plugged in or the T5 refuses to go out and play.

Going on the current saga I bet your gonna have loads of codes and most of them won't be related to your current problem.

Your going to need to make a note of them all. Clear them all down then drive for a few miles of varied driving. Then plug in DICE and check what VIDA says. Highlight the ones that reappear.
