shouldn't be, the required part numbers are no different.
For what it's worth, I bought a genuine tank and sensor and I never had any problems.
It's also been modified (super seeded). The new tank supports the P/S reservoir, as did the old one. However, it supports it slightly higher up so that the P/S reservoir no longer fouls the ECU cover.

Just a quick update, after trying two aftermarket tanks and two aftermarket sensors Jamie at PFV was kind enough to source me a genuine coolant tank and sensor and what do you know, it's fixed! I officially have the fussiest car in the world. It didn't like LED sidelights and it appears it doesn't like aftermarket coolant tanks and sensors.
I'd like to say a massive thank you to Jamie for helping me solve this issue and being only too willing to send out replacements to try. Big thumbs up to Partsforvolvo

So your car's a big girl, just like its owner.
Firstly apologies, only just seen this. Sounds like the sensors on the after market may have been "backwards" to the original. Giving resistance when full rather than empty. Suppose a multi meter would have figured that out?

When it comes to electrics I'm useless. When Steve tested the circuit it gave us the opinion the sensor was not working. That was original sensor on an aftermarket tank, then we tried a new sensor then another new bottle then another new sensor. Finally tried genuine tank and sensor and voila! So I reckon I just have a fussy car. They can't all be faulty tanks and sensors! Lol
