    VOLVO V70 D R-DESIGN SE PREMIUM - 136bhp tuning options

Pick up my new car tomorrow - a low mile 2009 V70.

it's the 136bhp version - how do these respond best to tuning?

It should be good on the juice , but absolutely no idea on tuning it.
Some photos would be good to see.

I have a tuned 2 litre diesel (was 136bhp now 163 and a lovely torque curve). HLM supplied the map - runs about 44mpg combine cycle.

I have one of these. Got it for the fuel economy.

To be honest I have been disappointed with the real work MPG. The best I have ever had (worked out properly) was 45 on a nice steady long run (motorway and single carriageway). Generally it does high 30's (probably 38 on average).

I will say that it is a large, solid heavy car so I suppose its not that bad but considering the 'claimed' possible MPG I was a bit gutted.

The trick is stick to the speed limits (obviously ). As soon as you push above 70 mpg its really starts drinking the juice.

I do like the engine which has plenty of torque and can certainly push the car along. Mine has done 122 k miles but has been looked after. I went from a 2001 330 D BMW estate which pretty much averaged 36-38 mpg with the same driving runs and style so I did expect more but again its a much bigger car than the 330D.

I do love the R design. Looks very nice and handles brilliantly. I bet the D5 would be no worse on fuel.

I have thought about remapping my own (alot!!) but promised I would leave it standard for once. No doubt I will break this promise eventually.

Drives like a bloody dream - cruise on at 75mph and got 45+mpg on the run to work, even had the radio off and just listened for the 100 mile drive, almost pure silence lol (a rarity in my life).

Hey, will you be doing any 'brim to brim' mpg tests? My computer says mine is doing 45 average but in reality its doing 38 ish.

I will be, but not for a couple of weeks as I'm on leave, so not doing my usual dual carriageway runs. I've put in £70 of fuel since I got it, and have done 680 ish miles, literally chucking cruise on every time there's a decent bit of road in front of me and seeing the benefits of it.
