    V70 P2 De-nivomat, 19"x9.5" alloys, lowered

    Hi everyone.

Last few months have seen a lot of work done to my v70 tdi, water pump failure causing the most trouble!!! But after that got sorted, I robbed plod monkey's suspension from his 2005 S60 when we fitted his coilovers. So i no longer have self levelling rear suspension. I swapped the fronts too because mine were orange with rust. Officially All straight swaps, even if the jobs didn't go all straight forward! I also chopped a coil off the springs, as they are the right type of spring to chop.

Then for the alloys. I went for Jaguar xkr 2009 onwards, but I bought 4 rears. All 19"x9.5". And then I fitted 7.5" wide tyres, 35 profile, and I also had them painted candy blue spokes and pearl white rims.

I haven't fitted the fronts properly yet, I need spacers, camber and maybe wide arches. But the rears got sorted this weekend. I needed to cut away some of the wheel arch lining, and 9mm spacers, extended wheel bolts. I think it has come together quite nicely,

    More pics to follow!

Nice to see something different..... I've never been convinced stretched tyres are entirely safe tbh.

I'm not feeling it tbh. I like big wheels but they just don't look like they are fitted right. I know that look is intended but its not for me.

Stretched tyres and cut springs... on a car that weighs as much as a cross channel ferry?

Safety issues aside, if you like it - great, enjoy it dude.

I'm gonna go bleach my eyes.

    Thanks for the honest replies

Well I've never chopped springs or stretched tyres before, they don't look safe and don't really feel it either! I can appreciate this isn't everybody's bag, especially not the norm for volvos.

I've never heard of anybody having any accidents caused by stretch tyres, despite looking quite hard. I know if I'd fitted 9.5" wide tyres I'd have more grip but I wouldn't have a hope of fitting them to the car.

Just ordered lowering springs though as the ride is still too soft so it's scrubbing too much.

They are different, again not sure I'd use those tyres but each to their own, good to see something out of the ordinary.

I seriously doubt those tyres were rated anywhere above 168mph. Would be interesting to know if it was the stretch that caused that!

Most probably it was the max speed rating of the tyre. I'll be honest, this look is so not my cup of tea. Your definitely in the minority with that mod, especially on a Volvo estate. The fact that the only thing sealing that tyre is the bead and 50% of that is totally exposed! I would say the car would be dangerous at high speed, especially weighing in at nearly 1.7 ton. On a Polo maybe but surely not practical on a V70. Not only that, what about the wheel rim? Totally exposed with its pants down!
If your after spacers, I will have a set of four black TPi hub centric spacers up for grabs soon. 12mm and 15mm. Two of each. Keep an eye out in the for sale section dude.
Also, are they budget tyres your using? Never heard of 'Triangle'.

Thanks mate I will keep an eye out

Yeah they are very budget tyres. Not only are the mods not really volvo owners cup of tea but they certainly aren't performance enthusiasts cup of tea!! So probably the worst forum I could have posted this haha.

I have an st205 when I'm in a hurry, but I love my volvo way more than the gt-four

I think it's just where it's so extreme and the fact that, being Volvo enthusiasts, we're more safety-minded than some others lol.
Keep posting mate, I'll be interested in where you go from here. Don't let negative comments put you off

Try posting this thread on VOC, the puritan will have kittens haha
