Cool Volvo 850r vs Merc e320 cdi lol Your view's

Ok im getting the e320 cdi Dyno'd at the end of the month, but im starting to think mine my be mapped, Im not talking Brabus or nowt like that but im not entirly sure its standard.

In comparrision to my Mapped 850r the Merc is only slower by 5mph over a measured 1/4 mile rollen start.

The volvo was 1490kg had a power of 260bhp torque 455nms

The Merc e320 cdi 1,785kg and power of 204bhp torque 500nms

I relise the Merc has more Torque but would that really make up nr 55bhp of disadvantage, and 295kg in weight?

This is only light hearted as the proof in the pudding will be at the end of the month lol

Torque is the way forward! My bhp is way down on a standard T5, but it is certainly as quick as one.
    854 T5 - The new project.

    850 tdi - sorely missed.

woe woe lol im just interested to know, Its obviously no where as quick as Blacky that was 115mph over the same 1/4 but id like to know thats all as i wasnt expecting a old oil burner to be nearly as quick as a mapped 850 especially since its quite abit heavier.

I havent really driven it hard since ive had it.

aren't they RWD? RWD will normally perform better than FWD, its always easier to push than to pull.

The torque cancels out the weight, noticed it a lot on the lorries.

for the road you want plenty of torque, even on track to a certain extent, but on track as your constantly at higher rpm thats where bhp comes in, people get hung up on bhp means quick, load of ££££££££ mate this is why my new engine will be built for torque NOT bhp.

Torque all the way mate, that's why my C70 performs so well on the strip, only 5 bhp above standard, but a whole 100 ft/lb above standard. All BHP is, is torque times revs divided by 5252, so, no torque, no BHP.
