Between all the various five cylinder turbo models in the P2 V70/S60?
There's the 2.3 T5, the 2.4T and the 2.5T if I read all the ads right, with power ranging from 200-250bhp. Obviously you have different capacities and outputs, but I'm just curious about the differences.
In context, I currently have an '03 D5 manual. It a good car, seems well equipped (leather, xenons, CD changer, electric seats, folding mirrors), but I'm debating whether to chop it in for a turbocharged petrol model. I don't really want to sell it and end up with something that's much worse-off equipment wise than my D5, but I do hanker after a petrol engine, as I'm not a big diesel fan. The D5 is good as diesels go, but I still prefer petrol power.
Obviously the T5 is quickest out of the box, but they all seem to be automatic, which is a big no-no for me. My old 850 T-5 was auto and I don't really want to go down that road again. I've noticed that there seems to be a few manual 2.4/2.5T cars about and wondered what kind of alternative these would make. I would be considering modifying anyway, so if a modified 2.4/2.5 is just as good as a T5, then I might as well broaden my horizons if I do start looking seriously for a petrol car.
Which is the stronger engine? How many of the T5 tweaks are transferrable to a 2.4/2.5T? I suppose my question is, if I bought a non-T5, would there be any disadvantages?
I appreciate that this is probably a totally retarded question, but I'm not an expert on all the different models, so please humour me and my lack of knowledge!
