    S60 2.4

Well bought a cheap S60 2.4 on a 03 plate, and on looking through the booklets there are apparently 3 different power engines, 140,170,200 bhp. So how do I tell which one I have got ???
It has factory fit LPG (reason I bought it !) if that makes a difference !

    Here's a vin number explanation

    http://www.volvoclub.org.uk/vin_60.shtml

With that you should be able to identify the engine code....if it hasn't got a turbo I would discount the 200 hp...!

sorry to be the bearer of bad news! I can't see any 170 hp versions of the 2.4, only in the S80 AFAIK....maybe it's worth looking into that to see what is the difference?? Just a thought

IT says their is a 170bhp version in the owners hand book that came with it.
Just looked again, says the engine code is B5244S and the 140 bhp version has an engine code of B5244S2 and 200bhp one is B5244T3.

Engine code will be on a white sticker, on the side of the timing belt cover, facing the o/s strut tower.
19t, greens, 3" inlet, 3" downpipe with race cat, V70R catback, autotech map...

also, the VIN should be on the dashboard on the passenger side (visible through the windscreen from outside the car).

If it had a B5244S engine the vin would start with YV1RU61....

its the other way around b5244s is 170bhp, s2 is the 140bhp . reduced as a way of meeting emissions standards ........

I am pretty sure a bi fuel is 140 anyway.- yep the pocket data book confirms it- 140bhp as bi fuel sg or sg2 engines.
here you go - an sg is for cng, and sg2 is for lpg on the bi fuels.

there is a tiny element filter (looks like a thumbnail sized k&n filter) in the side of the fuel guvenor unit on those. this must be changed at the same time as the obvious in line metal gas filter but often people miss them and they gum up .

Ahhh, that might explain why today (well yesterday ) the thing cut out on me on 3 different occasions, then restarted for no reason later.........................that is on gas, petrol was fine.
