As they're self levelling it would be worth checking to ser if the motor is working in that headlight. As a temporary bodge, there is a certain amount of manual adjustment on the light unit, there's a 7mm (I think) white plastic but on top of the light that you can adjust it with.
Hi Stribo - thank you. I will take a look and see but my trusted Volvo specialist (Watchfield Service Station aka Swindon Volvo) couldn't adjust manually enough themselves so I am booked into a main dealer for Friday (who was rude about older cars!!)
The suspension and headlights have a Sum Calibration. I'm sure someone else will confirm but I'm led to believe that before they are calibrated they will be manually wound down to a lower setting so that once they are calibrated to the correct height you'll be able to manually adjust them higher again if needed. I had no adjustment left in one of mine and they were recently done and I now have more adjustment.
Just to ask the bulb is correctly fitted in the headlight unit ?.
I have the Bi-zenons on my V70, exactly the same as the R units other than the internals are black not silver.
The bulb can be put in incorrectly as I have managed to do this. The best way to do it for me with big hands is to take the light unit out, I appreciate that is a PITA but I've put access holes for the light unit side bolt in my bumper carriers.
As stated there is a special way of recalibrating the lights on an R once all four wheels have left the ground say for shock changes. I think this is only through VIDA.
Mine can be adjusted like normal light units as I don't have 4C.
If the bulb has been changed recently my money would be on it not having been fitted correctly.
Hello All - unfortunately for me, the adjustment unit needs replacing so I'm in for £180 of new unit at the main dealer Monday time. The bulbs and their placements are all good - it's just that the teeth on the adjustment unit seems not to be meshing. She's needed for next week so I plan to JFDI here. Thanks for all the help as I was really hoping it would be a quick and easy fix!
