    Water Pressure Coolant Tank

Think i have found a local independant volvo specialist, who i may be considering, so i popped into see them about the VVT issue/rattle, the car still being hot, they had a check and said it was something to keep an eye on at present which has been also confirmed by volvo, but something the engineer mentioned which confused me as he was going over the car, he un did the water cap from the coolant Tank and said that there was to much pressure in the tank as pressure was released, low coolant light came on today so topped up with the proper coolant from volvo after 3-4 weeks of driving, i think he was hinting on early signs of head gasket issue, if this rings true car will have to go!!!!

It's more likely to be a split liner than a head gasket, but the result is the same, head off job. Get a sniff test done to see if hydrocarbons are getting into the water, that'll give you the best indication off h/g or split liner problems.
