    Question aircon leaking

would seem the aircon is leaking, lost it's gas after about a week (luckilly cost me nothing to get it gassed) as far as i've read up looks likely it's the evaporator under the dash? looks a lot of fun getting it out to check/change? any tips welcome thanks Gareth

it could be anywhere, although the favourite is usually the condenser (radiator at the front)
you should put some uv dye in the system (hopefully they did when it was gassed ) and use uv glasses/light to locate the leak which will look like a stain.
as it is now illegal to knowingly gas a car that has a leak , you may have top use inert gas for diagnosis.

UV Dye is your friend when it comes to finding leaks BUT unfortunately like Jamie says - it's illegal to 'knowingly' charge a leaking system, you need to find someone who will pressure test the system with Oxygen Free Nitrogen. Personally though, I'd find someone prepared to gas it & add UV dye - run it for 10 minutes then recover the refrigerant. It'll soon show under a UV lamp:

If it is the evaporator.....good luck

Ok finally got there would seem it's the dryer the cylindrical affair that sits behind the offside headlamp so not as drastic as first thought about £30/40 plus fitting it seems so looks like aircon for the Hungary trip next month

Personally, I'd price up a new condenser and change both whilst you're there...it'll be the original one and bound to be past its sell by date. You know it makes sense lol
