Old smokey has a new brain!

So I finally found got around to getting a socketed ecu for the tdi. Also got hold of a set of chips with a mild tune from alligator on them so popped those in for now so I can get to work on my own map. I've read the standard chips now and have spent the last 4 hours staring at the bin files trying to find the maps.

    So far I've found:

    Drivers wish map
    Pump voltage
    Turbo boost map
    Boost limit map
    Start of injection map
    Torque map
    Duration map
    Smoke limiter
    Egr map

So basically nearly all of them! Now I just need to start modifying them and try them out.

Thought about it but I've still not done the clutch (as I can't find a smf that will fit) and if it goes just before the wedding, well there probably won't be one lol.

Played around with it today for a bit and put it on my bros dyno, got 203hp and 320ft\lb but it was not the happiest of bunnies, the poor little turbo just can't cope. And the injectors don't flow enough, so after the wedding I WILL throw a 16t and some 0.240-.260 nozzles at it and see what happens.

    Hi Martin, Bit off topic, I want to do an EGR blank on mine, Its reg date is 24/09/96 so its quite a late one, Got this unit bolted on the N/S/F inner wing, Its to do with the EGR valve as the connection on the right goes to the vacuum unit on the EGR valve and the connection i'm pointing at on the left is disconnected the other end! If i blank the EGR valve off is it;
    A) Advisable to disconnect anything from this.
    B) Going to cause any problems with the ECU?

    Piccy: http://s327.photobucket.com/user/blo...06055.jpg.html

ECU on the cars got G8.2 in big letters on it?

    Any advice appreciated,
    Cheers.

That one your pointing at should not be disconnected! It goes into the Maf to turbo pipe, mine came out once and it didn't appreciate the unmetered air. You can just disconnect the yellow pipe and plug the black rubber elbow (22 air rifle pellet works a treat). But in my experience although you are disconnecting the egr it may still be open a touch, it's best to use blanking plates in my opinion. If you have a G8.2 then you won't get a fault code.

Cheers mate, Ive got blanking plates for the egr, I plan on fitting them tommorow aswell as removing and cleaning out the inlet manifold, So to recap is it best to leave that EGR thingy i photographed all connected up correctly or can i do away with it?

Ok, This car has a full Volvo service history latterly maintained by a 'Volvo indy' Its a real mess, I'm surprised the thing drove as well as it did (Crank bolt loose, Wrong waterpump, Loose and missing bolts everywhere!) Also the centre pipe on the Boost control solenoids disconnected at the other end can you have a look on yours and tell me where that plugs in! Its really appreciated! Cheers.

Right ive sorted the plumbing out properly, Cleaned out the inlet manifold and blanked the EGR with blanking plates each end and now the bloody Lambda lights on!

It can't see that an 850 is msa 15.8 actually. The middle outlet from the bcs goes to the inlet pipe just before the turbo, this will be letting in unmetered air if not connected. The other pipe goes to the top of the wastegate actuator.

If it's msa 15.7 (big boxy Maf) then it can't be the egr putting the light on.

Ive replaced all vacuum pipes with new 4mm pipe, I connected the centre bcs pipe to the IAT(?) sensor by the Turbo inlet, Ive connected the vacuum pipe on the inner wing unit that was disconnected to the intake pipe by the MAF sensor like you said, Ive done both timing belts ,Tensioners, Waterpump and timed the pump statically with a DTI to 0.55mm, It starts instantly cold and red hot and doesnt smoke much so i reackon i got the timing near spot on, Then i cleaned out the inlet manifold, Refitted with new gasket and then blanked the EGR and this is when the Lambda light came on, So long as it doesnt affect the running of the engine ie Limp mode or simular i am happy to run it untill i find someone in devon that can read and clear codes for me, I'm pretty sure ive got the Big, Boxy MAF, I'll double check 2mo, Not payed any attention to the MAF TBH! Cheers.
