What spec battery can I get away with for the S60 D5 when I get it next month. I've seen 096 72ah batteries suggested on the online retailers, I assume that will do it but any suggestions. Cost is key here.

The car will hold two sizes always better to go bigger as you get a larger reserve capacity.
An standard 096 with 3 yr guarantee will only be around 640cca. That's adequate for a diesel D5 or indeed an R. When I replaced mine two years ago I fitted a S5007 100 BOSCH Car Battery 12V 74Ah with 750cca.
5 year guarantee and only £77 as well as being 110 amps more powerful on cold crank.
