    Knackered Keyless Locking S60T6

This may be of interest to some. When I purchased my S60T6 2011 on the 16th May from Derby Volvo we did the normal check to see if all was working but spotted a fault that the door locks keyless would not operate. We were there in Derby to pick up the S60 and would have thought that this problem would have been found. No problem as the Service Manager told me to take it into my local Volvo Dealer to get it fixed. It was picked up by TMS Volvo in Coventry who had ordered the parts after I had a check the previous Friday. The car was fixed and I let them keep it overnight to give them more time. It was completed. So the work is done and now comes the interesting bit Volvo Coventry were told by Volvo Warranty that this work was not covered by the Warranty and was the responsibility of the selling garage in Derby. Volvo Coventry were instructed by Volvo Derby to get on with the work. I received a telephone call saying that until the bill was paid they would not release the car. Volvo asked for BACs payment from Volvo Derby which was promptly paid and I received my S60T6 back at 16.30hrs with all work done and some new silver wing mirror cases.
What I have learnt from buying at distance that for the first 30days the responsibility for any faults remain with the selling Garage (new one on me)
I was also very surprised at the repairs for a new keyless entry system consists of new handles all round and new wiring. The Cost a staggering!!!!!!
    £2000.00
Great service from TMS Coventry and Derby Volvo (Bristol Street Motors)

I believe there's a series of sensors around the car that will detect not only that you're near the car but what door you're close to.(sensors in the handles). This can be used to prevent carjacking by only opening one door. Chances are, if one part needs replacing, being Volvo, the whole bloody lot will need doing.

    at least it's all fixed

If it was ford, it would've rotted away by now, the Chinese are great at building stuff that breaks within seconds of the 3 year warranty running out

As MRP says, either the remote button to unlock the central locking or an emergency key built into the fob. Remove a blanking cover from the door handle and open the door like a normal old car without central locking.
The Newer S60 keyless entry system is the same as whats fitted to the Mondeo. Ironically, the Mondeo systems are always going wrong and not working as I attend lots of them, but not the Swede. Maybe its a popularity thing.....more Mondeos than S60's so statistically more Mondeos to go wrong.

I've seen a few posts on VOC where the keyless system has been disrupted by things like wireless doorbells and other vehicles with keyless systems being too close so the Volvo isn't without it's horror stories.

My last Mercedes had a keyless problem but as it was out of warranty I decided to use the key fob all the time. Never did get it repaired as it was going to cost mega monies. I think if the keyless system goes wrong at least its covered under warranty. Just a pain in the @rse.
