    53 Plate S60 D5 - Won't start

    Well this is rather typical, within days of getting the new car and spending hours cleaning it up the sod doesn't want to start!

    Symptoms are;

    - Clock at --.--
    - When turning ignition it sounds like the central locking is engaging and disengaging all around
    - What can best be described as clicking coming from behind the steering wheel

    I'm taking a stab in the dark that the battery is perhaps low on charge, other than that I am stumped.

    The car does also tell me that the 'Alarm System Requires A Service', from what I've googled I required a new siren alarm kit from Rufa (i think) as the battery may have perished in the siren. However, I'm not sure if this is related or not.

    All help appreciated, as I'm well and truly stuck ;(

    Yep - dead battery mate.

    Mine does the same when I have the stereo going too long.

    good to know, i was getting a bit worried that it was something more sinister.

    now this is a completely embarrassing question that will result in a severe loss of man points...

    where the feck is the battery? I popped the bonnet to find a whole host of plastic covers and trays and for the life of me could only find a positive terminal behind the fuse box.

    It's in the boot mate, nearside, under the carpet. If it's just a trickle charger you have, stick it on for an hour and you should be fine.
