i wouldn't be surprised if yours doesn't like it. My 2002 doesn't mind you doing anything, but my old mans 2003 used to moan about everything (although he never blacnked his egr)

My '51 plate (2002 MY) D5 doesn't object, but I think it's more of a problem on later cars - irrespective of being 163/185 or whatever.

Try it and see, as long as you can clear the codes it's not going to be a big problem.

If it kicks - off, clear the codes and drill a 5mm hole in the plate. If it still kicks off, keep making the hole bigger until it behaves.
