The other thing with the brembos is the weight difference which they make to the sprung mass.

Yes it costs but you won't get better brakes than that cheaper on an 850 unfortunately ...
    What an amusing thread. ROFL

Agree with the above. I'm running AP fronts shimmed out by 2.5mm to run the cheaper 330mm grooved discs, will go Reyland Motorsport pattern discs next time as genuine AP's in 325 are £240 EACH and have 1mm of wear tollerance!! AP's with US Carbotech XP10's. On the rear I have S60R callipers, Volvo discs and US Carbotech XP8's. Fluid is Motul RBF600 DOT 4, can't be arsed with DOT 5.1 as the RBF600 out performs it, just change it annually.

850 brakes hard and flat, pedal is solid with very minimal movement, I can't fault it in anyway on the road or on the Ring!

Would I spend £2K on a brake kit, NO. Would I buy an 850 with KW's, zorst, mods and the above brakes for £2.5K YES

Ohh and this is my second set of AP's, the red brick ran them and I paid £600 for the set but ended up having to replace, discs and pads so cost me £xxxx. Realising that the discs had lasted little over a year (25K) was one of the major reasons for trading it in for the D5. Interesting that when she was rediscovered last year she was still running the same discs....

In all fairness, pad choice will be the biggest factor on how well the brakes perform.

The larger caliper/pistons/clamping force/etc will only really come into it's own when being pushed very hard.

Another big benefit of the AP's is how light they are.

As Gav has already pointed out no they don't. I'm running 10mm's on mine to get the Volans on.

have to admit i look a nice set of brakes behind a nice set of wheels
Agreed the look of a nice set of calipers is appealing to me too, take Merc and BM for example I always look at Merc brake set ups with their nice silver calipers and think why don't BM go that route, the C63 calipers look miles better than the M3 equivalents

Very briefly on the R vs T5 brake comparison if I may, if you were unable to notice the difference then I would say the R brake set up would have been the superior as an R is heavier than a T5 and therefore more effort to slow down for the brakes

    They sure are puuuurdy.

I wasn't going bother with the rears, but like everything else, I can't see that happening! I really don't want to run spacers though. May have to see what other options there are.
