I guess You'll know my opinion...
850s are brilliant cars, loved mine. But still, I tore its heart out and put it in a 960... and now it is going into a 945.
I would either keep the r stock and daily it, and keep the 7 as a toy,
OR break the 850 and put the 5pot in the 740. -> zero investment made (almost), and you can even make money on the part out.
