It's usually 10-20% for the M56 box, so on 200 whp it would be around 220-224 bhp.

How's that? An auto is just as quick as a manual once rolling

It is impossible to know what the crank power is on automatic without taking the engine out, removing the torque converter & sticking it on a bench dyno. I can explain further if you wish?

Any thing to do with sticking your wet finger in the air will be as accurate as the web sites. including steve's 50 hp figure above. It's a guess.

My advice is embrace your WHP figure and be happy.

Minimise your measurement variables by baselining on the same dyno and sticking with that dyno on every change you make.

Because an auto 'box has higher internal drag, ir also has the transmission pump which takes engine power. I've heard later Jag auto boxes have transmission losses of around 80bhp.

    This^^^^

Also, autos do have higher losses than manuals. This is why the early v70r awd autos are so slow. Heavy, with the autobox AND the awd system sapping the power.

Yes it was a figure that wasn't accurate, but an educated guess.
