The canbus speed was doubled in 2005+ Cars

The angle gear collar changed happened on 2006+ cars, but can be fitted to the older cars as they uprated the quality of the collar steel ,the haldex diff was updated in 2006+ cars.

Better photies to follow, hopefully. It's a geartronic (later 6 speed) and has done about 120,000 km. It's up for 6K, should I run away or investigate further....? Anything to look out for?
    I'd buy it!!!!
120,000km OR miles?? That's 74,000 miles - so coming up for the BIG 80,000mile service!!! (will include cambelt and waterpump)
If that is 120,000 miles then make sure it's had the 120k service - if not, haggle!
Atacama interior is £1500 optional extra when new, so if this has it then it's a plus, although it marks very easily, so make sure the girlfriend don't wear jeans or the studs will scratch!! (silk knickers only!)
Shocks are made by Monroe (only) and can be bought direct. They are £200 each or £438 from the dealer (No brainer)
Angle gear, Haldex and rear diff oils - Volvo say are for life! They aren't and should be replaced at least every 80k.
if the last service was done by Volvo then it should have had a full software update included. If not, budget £300 for an interim service inc full software update.
    Tax is £480 /year.
Fuel costs - only use 98RON so, Tesco Momentum or Shell V-Power only. Don't use 95RON unleaded, the car is designed to run on 98RON.
66litre fuel tank and expect about 25mpg.
Headlamp alignment needs checking every year as they have a habit of dropping due to the harsh ride.
Proper 4 wheel Alignment is a must as 'side hop' issue can make car feel skittish and un nerving to drive.
Guarantee there will be a fault code or two logged, they don't all put Engine management light on, so have it checked. best done with VIDA or a proper code reader that interrogates ALL the cars ECU's.
If the AWD is functioning properly then tyre wear is excellent. Expect many, many miles from the tyres as they should pretty much wear the same.
Don't use longlife oil (waste of money) drop the oil every 12500miles (I do mine every 10,000)
PCV system. If it smokes from the dipstick tube - replace it! Budget £325 + fitting. This includes a new thermostat & housing and Temp sensor. You can't buy them separate on an P2R.
Can't really think of much else...

    enjoy!!

Don't blame you Jamesy, I've been seriously considering a late V70R I keep hearing horror stories about this and that with them but it doesn't seem to be putting me off

My next car will be a 2007 V70R with 6 speed auto. If I can't get one then I will settle for an RS4 avant. Nothing else will do I'm afraid. It's those or I ride my MTB.

You'll settle for an RS4 Avant lol. The RS4 is better than a V70r in all departments apart from running/servicing costs.

Thats down to personal preference, there is no denying they are both fantastic cars, if we all had the same tastes then it would be a very dull world,

In my eyes the only thing better about an RS4 is performance. I prefer Volvo's looks outside and inside and I also think they are more comfortable.

To be fair I don't think you can compare the two really. V8 4.2 420bhp. I've driven one and the Recaro leather heated electric seats are very comfortable. Handling is great but it was the saloon version. Flared arches and twin exhausts give it a beefy look but not to over the top. They certainly hold there money, £25000 for a good 2007 we'll specked model. How much is a 2007 R, £8000 tops?

Yip they are two totally different cars, the RS5 that I was in for 100 mile round trips was no way near as comfy that had the uprated seats, The R seats are more luxury than sporty.

My point was your not comparing two like for like cars in my opinion. I'm sure any car magazine etc that had a group test wouldn't put a v70r up against RS4.
