    Richies Volvo V40 T4

I guess its about time now to produce a project thread for my T4, I bought the car from my Friend back in late 2013 to try something different.
She replaced my dream car - 306 Rallye something I didn't want to progress any further with because she could essentially be a classic in years to come.

So, Moving onto the T4 model, this is the first time i've gone over to anything other than French cars. Everything is now a massive learning curve and mildly more expensive!
    She had a few problems when i got her;
    Engine management light
Oil leak coming from Turbo feed return pipe
    Dent in Rear of car
Plenty of dings and holes in body panels

As with any new car that you buy, you need to give her a full service... So monies spent later i replaced the Oil, Coolant, Spark plugs and even decided to do the cam belt.
The cam belt was the most irritating job on the volvo i've had to do yet... Once the bottom pulley was locked off, i had fun trying to counteract the top pulleys from pinging back every time the belt was put on...
After 4 hours of frustration almost throw the ratchet through the window moments the belt, water pump and tensioners had been replaced.

I won't bore you much more with Spiels, so i'll let some photos talk...

    Oil leak

Oil leak now cured! Replaced O-ring and changed oil to 5w 30 Fully Synthetic (later changed to 10w 40 Semi due to high usage of oil).

I decided to change the Radio, wanted my own Bluetooth stereo in but this needed the wiring converted. (you can buy adapters, but i'm impatient.)
Check my thread here for a guide:

    Broken foglight? No more:

Bought some Arcadias to Replace my BBS alloys
However one has a crack in so needs replacing or repairing. Fingers crossed it can be repaired.

Went through a phase of wanting a Boost gauge!

Grew tired of that after 2 weeks haha, so i got rid of it and did some other stuff.
Painted a brand new splitter direct from Volvo

Wanted a ph3 steering wheel, (pain to get off, but those who have struggled look at the following photo to see the tab you have to pull down through the hole behind. This then released it.

During the last day or two i have added Cruise control as well. Works wonders!!

So thats a short and sweet update... Here is my list of things to do:

    Repair body defects
Paint and colour code Black trim on the car
    Refurbish Arcadia alloys
Fit lowering springs and Strut braces
    Increase power
    Remap ECU
And change Ph2 clocks for Ph3 retaining existing mileage

    More photos due to come

There is a cross member going directly under the turbo. It is not the same as the 850. Plus It is a complete pain in the ass to do. You might remember my issues earlier this year.....however with the right number of socket knuckles and lots of new swear words you don't need to take the turbo off.

    Good thread so far though.

That being said, I just remembered that I had to replace the exhaust manifold gaskets, hence why it was all apart

Spent the day sanding, painting and more sanding...
    So photos are a must!!

My rear quarter filled and primed after being dented,

One I prepared earlier, a strip painted and lacquered to colour code

And finally, the painted rear corner awaiting another layer of paint when I order it and some lacquer.

Annoyingly it looks like a dent there but it's not, the paint ran out there haha

I was looking at a 2.0t the other day, thinking exhaust, sports cat and remap. Would that be the stage 3?

Thats what i was thinking, cheap to run and insure as well, would make a perfect car for my 20mile drive to work.
