V70 Power issues / limp mode/ soot filter

    All

Father in law has a 2007 Volvo V70 2.4D , admittedly its high mileage at 220000 but I am having hellish power problems with it and wondered if any of you can suggest anything

The problem first started about 4000 miles ago with it keeping going into limp mode etc saying soot filter full. Eventually it had to have a forced re gen at Volvo and then they commented on doing something with swirl valve. So its back and is not in limp mode as such but wayyyyyy down on power ….pulling out of junctions is hazardous at the least , I can tickle it along to about 75 top speed but its gash !! If I just find the right spot on accelerator I get some bursts of power but soon disappears.

Every now and then It will pull as it should for seconds then dies with no messages on display …Volvo can’t seem to pinpoint this….is it finished do you think …is something simple being overlooked ? Any ideas ?

Car has always been serviced on time , always with Volvo parts , seems a shame that everyday its getting closer to the crusher !!!

if theres no codes id be thinking along the lines of getting rid of the dpf. it could be blocked. its not unusual for this this to happen. you need software to delete it from the ecu though. even if it was the dpf there should still be a code.
