Dash lit up like a christmas tree :(

EML, Traction, Handbrake, brakes and pretty much everything else - the message display read "Brake Failure, stop immediately" or words to that effect. Went out again shortly after, although traction light stayed on. All the brakes were fine, didn't slam on for ABS check, but all seemed ok. (Prev owner said it did this sometimes)

Oddly enough, I'd literally just had the fault codes read. Oxygen sensor 1 & 2 and also iirc Speed Sensor.

    My thinking is ABS ring?

    Any thoughts from anyone?

I had the same issue when my DEM unit failed....and now when my BCM plays up. My advice would be to get the codes read

Edit : Sorry you have read codes.....should really wear my reading glasses

So it's throwing up no codes -

New/replacement dash console then? The only other thing i can see wrong with it are a couple of the backlight bulbs have gone on it? Would the varying voltage through the board on the back cause it to spaz out?

Also, if I'm changing the clocks, do I need to look for any numbers etc to match? Would XC70 clocks from same year do the trick or is that just too hopeful?

Hmmm... is this Chris and Jean's old car? (Sorry, i get confused a lot at the moment) if so, the DIM has been checked before and was found to be ok.

You cant just change the clocks over, theyre coded to the car.

It needs plugging into a vida diagnostic system, rather than a generic reader that wont read internal codes.

Yeah thats the car. Would the coding be able to be done with a snap on code reader (proper garage one is what I have occasional access to) - also need to find out why the LPG was disconnected too (if you happen to know) and what was done to disconnect it. this 19mpg b.s is killing my wallet :/

Needs proper volvo diagnostics mate. It may be something else within the electrical gubbins on the car.

All i know is the lpg was disabled while faultfinding another priblem and never reinstated. I dont know what was done, sorry.

Yours I would say with 90% certainty is the DIM failing and no, it's not a cable jobbie - there's a 8 pin connector on the back and that's it.
There's a guy called Lukaz on VOC that repaird DIMs with a 2 year warranty (1 year longer than Volvo offer on a new one!)
