    towing an automatic

Moved house today but left the 940 at old house.

Am I right that you cant tow an automatic due to oil circulation in the gearbox? Only 10 min car journey away.

Was gonna phone recovery firm and put on flat bed truck but someone suggest just disconnecting prop and tow normal way.

Is this correct and how easy is it to do ?

    Cheers guys.

i just checked my info and it says 15 mph for a max of 5 miles but preffered full/rear lift. i would normally undo prop if its going further or roads too fast though.

Safest thing is to disconnect the prop at the rear axle if you wish to tow it any distance as I don't think the local traffic will like following at 15 mph and you would possibly have to stop for a cool down period

Done recovery for years , it doesn't do your gearbox any favours towing any auto . As has been said , best drop ya prop mate , yes it can be a pain , bit if a crappy job , but saves winding your gearbox up , and shagging it mate .

    Certainly will.

moving from 1st floor 2 bed flat to a 3 bed house with access to rear garden through bolted double gates that has covered car port and nice large shed.

Only got manifold, turbo and radiator to bolt back on but I'd rather not rush it if I dont have to.
