    V70R seats in an 850R

Hi guys, haven't been on for a while but I'm still here and will update my 850R resurrection thread (from some time ago !) soon.

Anyhoo, have fitted Frankies V70R seats in my 850R, the V70R passenger seat has slightly different wiring to the old 850 seat as it has an additional orange wire which I assume was an ignition live on the V70. I can just loop it to the red permanent live to get the seat to work but it sounds like some relay or other in the seat switch pack engages when you do (and stays engaged). Anybody had any problems just linking the orange wire to permanent live regarding current draw flattening batteries etc (I did a current draw test and it's only pulling 0.01 amp with it permanently connected)

There's no airbag wiring under the seats afaik, just the wiring for the electric seats and the seat heater.

Thought the pretensioners were built into the seatbelt inertia reels on the 850s and 70 classics ? There's the SIPS airbag and trigger but that's all self contained .

I might be mistaken then, but i could've sworn the wires meet together in the loom, all big gauge orange ones.

I think if it had been for the pretensioner I might have regretted giving it 12 volts ! I've got two multiplugs going to the seat. One has a black and red wire to power the seat, the other plug has a yellow with black tracer and a black wire going the the seat heater and thermostat. All the connections hook up the same apart from this additional orange wire that's added to the power seat plug. Give it a live from the red wire and the power seat works which makes me assume it was an ignition live. Do the seats work in a V70 with the ignition off ?

Think I've realised where the confusion regarding the pretensioner wiring coming from. The V70 seats are from an early pre 99 v70, I think the later ones had electrically fired SIPS rather then mechanical.

    This mite help,

The red is a permanetly live, orange is a switched live. So the seat can not be operated when the ignition is off.

I linked the orange to the red and all OK

Haven`t read in any depth i am just answering your question if it helps!

My `97 V70 T5 all the switches work on the seats when the ignition is off..........it is a nuisance sometimes as when trying to do things in the cabin my arse touches the switches and the seat moves making it difficult to do what i am doing!

Thanks Frankie, that would explain why the drivers seat works without any fiddling !
