what's the issue with the auto box. Have you tried flush changing the ATF. This can sort issues with rough/clunky changes.

Yer it's had a flush it just takes forever to go into drive and whenever you stop say at lights when you pull away it revs the nuts off and jumps into gear it's booked in nxt week for a gearbox change just wasn't sure if you can just swop it coz I've found you cant just change things on volvo lol

The solenoid I guess, if so, it's the VVT unit that needs replacing.

Any chance of getting the proper Volvo code rather than a generic P0 code?
Might help and give us more info.

You'd think wouldn't you Lee, however, when the VVT unit went tits up on our R all we got was a camshaft correlation code, it (VIDA) couldn't diagnose whether the fault was with the VVT solenoid, or unit itself. We went for the cheapest option first (solenoid), guess what, it was the VVT unit on the exhaust cam, once changed no problems.

Not all dealers or garages are bad!!!
I have nothing but praise for MRG for the work they did on my old "banger".They looked in every nook and cranie to find problems and fixed them ,not that there were many.
Ok its a long distance to travel but hae ho I got to test out a XC60 D4 for a few days.Great was my verdict on it once you got used to the American styled auto box.
James have you also had problems with other trades people ?If you have then maybe it's time to look closer to home!!
Martin ,When martyn bought his Volvo from snows they could not have been more helpful and gave the go ahead for the work done up here without any fuss or argument .It often all depends of who is in charge of things at the time.
