    Cool Volvo itch...

I know I've not had the civic very long & the plan was to swop with my wife & sell her car for a volvo but she who must be obeyed has said the type r ride is a bit harsh for a baby & the vtec pointless in her hands.
My dilemma is I miss the bullion.
I don't want a ph2 after driving one (sorry ph2 lovers) & don't want a saloon or estate as I won't be happy the mrs driving it. I have seen a cracking V plate me7 c70 t5 manual that I really like & feel I could make it my own pretty cheaply & be happy.
I know the rear seats don't fold down but is the boot a decent size for the buggies, nappies & kit I'm going to need?
With regards to the etm issue what am I looking for & which manufacturer is best as I've read different opinions on different topics.
The seller has been honest & said it occasionally throws a warning light that gives a vvt code, any wallet raping consequences lurking?
As it is I am hopefully starting a new job soon & can see the type r going up for sale.
It just isn't me & aside from a c70 I really don't know what ticks my boxes bar dare I say it a Saab 93 preferably with a solid bulkhead.
    Any help appreciated.

Biff, how are you? If you're looking for a C70 T5 manual, then I give me a shout if you get stuck. The boots are decent, and I get loads in mine.

I'm good mark thankyou. Fed up of lying in a premier inn watching crap! Lol
Yours is me7 if I'm not mistaken? What troubles have you had?
That's great about the boot, I'm very tempted.
Another question, do I just have to fit a blanking plate for chatter?

Thanks Geoff, I won't be going gay gold this time I'm afraid! I've had my gold one. I'm thinking more subtle this time & something that will blend in.
Everybody wants to race the civic & I'm fed up of it.
It sounds just what I need but bit scared of me7....

ME7 is "usually" fine mate. You only hear the horror stories.
look for the ones with the Bosch etm, they still go wrong from time to time but the Bosch is plug and play. (if they even put Bosch ETMs in the c series.

I loved my old C70, sat 4 in comfort and nice big boot. ME7 gave me no issues but always ran it on V power fuel. Had it remapped and it was very smooth power delivery.
Still the best looking car Volvo has ever made in my opinion.
    Mike.

I took these photos 4 years ago for when someone asked the very same question

I obviously love my C70 but I have had it for 8 years (some 120K miles) and some epic fun.

Seats do not fold at the rear but you do get a ski chute.

I have no issues getting a decent sized pram in the boot. VVT code could be a dodgy solenoid. P00014 is common on older ME7 cars.

I've done the estate, the mrs was scared of the size & I may need a des from time to time.
I've had my bullion & saffy c70's are quite popular around here...
As we're only having the one baby a coupe is ideal.
I can always get a roof rack. Lol

Mine is a June 2000 me7 T5, and besides a seizing caliper, we've had next to nothing go wrong, touch wood quickly. Great car, and one that I would regret selling, but if I'm not using it, someone else should enjoy it. MOT'd it end of Feb with 2 new tyres, and drove it to my garage, but it hasn't been out since, which is very sad. Best looking(in our opinions) and most economical Volvo we have by far.

The soft top works. The windows don't, the turbo's shagged, I can't remove the removeable tow bar, and in drains the battery in less than 2 days, but the roof works. (for the moment).

Thanks mark, if the car I've been offered falls through I will let you know. It is enthusiast owned, in very good condition & very low miles for a Volvo t5. The owner has been very honest & wants it to go to a good home. It's not advertised anywhere & he's in no rush so it's looking very promising. What kind of mpg do you get from it? I never actually worked out the mpg from the bullion but I'm not really convinced the type r is that much better but maybe that's as I push it harder than I did the bullion. My last type r lasted 3 months before I got bored. Lol
Reckon a map, filter & some eibachs & I'll be daddy cool!!
