    Exclamation Dreaded P0121 Error code

So, to make matters worse today on top of everything else, the car has now thrown up the dreaded P0121 Throttle Position Sensor "A" Circuit Range/Performance error on the code reader and the emissions warning light is on. I reconnected the intercooler to ETM pipe back on the intercooler today because the damn thing blew off this morning (it's not used to the extra boost following MRP's excellent injector refurb yesterday).

So I fixed it back on and the thing was idling badly, double checked the pipe and found it wasn't quite pushed on properly so I pushed it back on and reattached the jubilee clip. I took it for a spin and noticed the emissions warning light was showing orange, so out comes the code reader and that horrible code P0121 pops up.

Plan of action, tomorrow I'm going to pull out the rad fan housing and make sure all the pipes are seated properly in case the ECU is detecting an air leak as an ETM fault. If all is well I'll check electrical connectors and if that's ok, I'll be on the look out for a replacement ETM.

MOT is just a week away, great timing or what!

Thing is, the engine is still running rough so something isn't right somewhere but when I come off the throttle the power seems to cut off very quickly and that's the same feeling I get when a boost pipe has blown. My money is on the ETM end of the I/C pipe has come away very slightly from the ETM, not enough for it to be off completely but enough to make the engine behave like a numpty.

Ok, sorted this as well today. I took the rad fan housing out and the front flexi pipe off the intercooler (driver side), then removed the I/C to ETM pipe and gave it a visual inspection (all ok). Then I put everything back on, tightened it up and then restarted the engine but noticed the emissions light was still on. So I switched the engine off, popped the code reader on to the OBDII port, cleared the codes, restarted the car and the emissions light went out and stayed out during the test drive.

Looks like there was some sort of air leak and the ECU threw a hissy fit. Hopefully it's all sorted now (until the pipe blows off again).
