    s40 cutting out

    hello there iv only just got a s40 18 2000 model . and it got little fault of cutting out .
    iv so far changed the idel valve , cleaned air maff and air filler , just cant put finger on it yet
    any body had this with their s40/50

    All the time or just the odd occasion?

    Barring all the basics like checking all the vac lines are the right way round etc. There is a Rev counter sensor on top of the gearbox. Maybe this is not helping.?

    Take it back to the previous owner and ask him to fix it under warranty ... lol

    sorry not had any experience of s40's, check for dodgy wires to main relays etc mate

    I was told today to start with fuel filter as it might be blocked and ok under load but not for tick over

    Go onto the VOC a lot more people on there know the different models than on here,as this is more a turbo site.
    I am sure you will get to the bottom of it..

    is this a 1.8i GDI or Volvo 1.8 engine ?
    gdi - fuel pressure sensor or head carboned up badly.

    its a Volvo vvt 18 engine

    The GDI's are bloody horrible engines,100k and you bin it..that's if it gets to a 100k,they coke up so badly..

    Bit less than 100k in my experience. plenty had to be de coked within warranty!

    discounting the parts you already gave attention to listed above, its a bit difficult.
    clean the throttle body in case it is gummed up and cant close properly when you lift off?
    did u get any codes ? has the engine light been on at all?

    hi yea throttle cleand and as fare as can work out 2 codes , mass changed and crank sen but havnt got spare one of them at mo
