    Cool handbrake shoes problem

Well I was driving home tonight and I heard am rattling nose from the rear of the s80 so when I got in a whipped the wheel off then the brake calliper and then the disk on the offside rear to find nothing thats wright there infront of me was no break shoe pads just the bare mettle. After fether investigation I found no clue as to where they had gone. :/ I did however find the rattle was the disk gard on the back puzzled I cleaned everything back up and put it back together. Now to order up the shoes and put a new set in the job list is getting bigger on its own

Yeah the friction pads come away from the metal, had it on a couple of my Volvos now, though the pad was still inside the drum.

I think the lack of friction lining would have something to do with you getting annoyed at the rattling/grinding noise and pulling the handbrake while reversing. you powdered it you ham fisted ludite

Handbrake turns aren't a good idea in Volvos, Craig, you need a Saxo for that.

Yeah, the best Saxo handbrake turn I saw was on the Guildford cruise years ago, idiot tried it in an industrial estate, but didn't realise there was a kerb nearby, hit the kerb with the rear wheel and bent the rear stub axle. Funniest of all, he did it at the beginning of the cruise, so had to spend the rest of the evening watching us all blatting it up and down the strip whilst he waited for the RAC to take him and his sad car home. Just in case you wondered, I've never been sad enough to own a Saxo, TBH it's a girls car.

I don't drive a convertible, I drive a coupe as you well know, which as you also know, has more power and torque than you S80 with no handbrake. The convertible has the roof up, and was only bought to do up, and sell on, which reminds me I notice the S80's up for sale again.

It got the figures on the first run before it was smoking badly, at the end of the day it's an oil leak which can be easily sorted.
