    drive shaft or cv joint

Hello all. Thanks for all the great advice which helps me to keep the old sweedish bird om the road

so now im thinking its either cv or and driveshaft. When I put the power down feels like there is some hesitation.

Its in the drive drain. Almost like something is rubbing against something else.

The engine revs raise quickly when the boost come in. And then it is definitely the case that something is slipping. Its not the clutch because that was new in December
I don't break gearboxes. Just engine mounts.............

A CV wouldn't slip, it would just break up, and not give you any drive, same with a driveshaft, it's either in one piece, or it's broken. When was the PCV last done, you could have oil leaking out of the rear main seal and getting on the clutch, or it could be the clutch itself.

Hello. The pcv was done about 10 k miles ago. The main rear seal was changed at the same time as the clutch in dec. For a genuine volvo clutch. And has only dont 1200 miles.

one thing I forgot to add is that the passenger side cv gaiter had split. Joint was run with no grease in it for a few months. Although it is not knocking. And was not knocking. The gaiter was replaced and the joint was regreased.

I think I worked it out. The rubbing slipping feeling is more engine related. Thinking about it the plugs. Rotar and dizzy aint been changed for about 12 k miles. I think the lack of spark means yhat the timing isnt advancing when the boost lands. Moreof a mmisfire. Then once the Revs get high it goes. When the spark is stronger

Sounds like it needs a good service, especially if you're taking it up the strip again this year. Without driving the car myself it's hard to diagnose. Give it a full service, and stage 0, then go from there. Be good to see you at Avon (again) or Santa Pod.

No gearbox noise. And its seems to be intermittent. Happens sometimes. Other times not.

Full service is def on the agenda.

Will def have to get it on the strip again stribo

Sounds to me like you might have an electronic based issue that feels like something is rubbing. Without diagnostics, I'd look at the TCV/BSC or MAF sensor, or even the Throttle Body. You could also look at a Lambda sensor because I know Leeds_Finest had hesitation on his T5 (now sold) and he needed a replacement throttle body and front Lambda sensor.

Just some suggestions for you mate.

Won't be throttle body, as it's an 850.
