V50 1.6 2007 1.6 Doesel Estate

My son wants a V50 Estate diesel and has see a 1.6 diesel engine one 91,000 miles what are these engines like.Peter

Peugeot engines,make sure no dpf issues there,not bad engines and good mpg.I just bought a 2.0d one and the same pug engine,had no chance driving much yet but wouldn`t have it over V70 tbh.

Make sure they are properly serviced without too many extra miles between intervals. I believe 12k miles is the proper interval & yes they are french. the 1.6 returns very good mileage and can be remapped to make it less feeble.

Take the engine cover off and see if any build up around injectors as seals can leak on them,not an expensive parts just labour,depending on how much build up there.

I have had a 2.0 D for a couple of years now and would say the V50 is a bit small--but
very comfortable, good sound system and relaxing to drive.
-make sure serviced or at least oil change has been done correctly
-1.6D is a bit slow, but if you want a fast Volvo, they too are available.
- make sure all the buttons work as they should
- Volvos are prone to 'software issues' of many varieties
- A/C condenser is poor quality and will get damaged and holed sometime, make a stone guard from mesh
- very sensitive too poor quality or mis matched tyres, V50 is a small heavy car
-see if it comes with boot cover, rubber mats etc, some owners take these out and sell them on eBay seperately

the V50 was a popular car, there are plenty available, so be choosy if you can
