Not sure, I doubt it because it's not a safety critical system.

I've never understood though, why people want to remove their A/C because I couldn't live without it personally!

You wouldn't get a light on the dash if you removed the condensor but obviously you'd need a shorter aux belt if you remove the compressor. The compressor probably weighs about 3kg and wouldn't make the slightest noticable difference if you removed it imo.

Remove the condensor for the bigger I/C....makes sense

lets be sensible its a road car and a volvo is meant to be a comfortable cruiser. you wont gain anything from removing it and there loads of room to fit a fmic.

I would understand removing the AC if it was a track car or if you stayed in the artic circle.
But here in the UK with our hot weather no chance .I like my comforts to much.

Mine has never worked in over 6 years can't see any point in wasting any money on fixing it, for a handful of days that are hot enough to require a/c, so mine will be axed whilst the engine is out this weekend. Does leave a nice space for a supercharger.....ooops ! think I've may have been having too many cups of tea with Colin.....lol

The compressor on mine siezed up about a year ago, shredding the aux belt and leaving me stranded. Unplugged compressor clutch, fitted new belt, no problems ever since.
In the one or two hot days we have I have the windows open, although the leather can get a bit 'sticky'!

Pardon me for butting in, but how can your fan blow cold exactly? If the aircon is switched off then the coldest the fan can blow is ambient air temperature, therefore, if its 28*C outside then blowing warm air in my face ain't my idea of fun!

Also, from a safety aspect, I also use my aircon/climate to keep the windows clear in the winter.

Put Aircon back in my 850; pipework, condenser, compressor, dryer, the lot! Can't live without it, cool on the summer and no condensation in the winter.

I had an aircon compressor seize on the motorway in my T5 , I tried in vain to find a belt that would omit the ac compressor ,despite lots of threads that suggest this can be done I could not source a shorter belt that would fit and drive the alternator properly, volvo sell a dummy pulley kit that replaces the aircon pulley but it is about 90 quid, in the end I got a second hand ac compressor and disabled the electro clutch . The ac compressor is really heavy and takes up a lot of space, and I have never used or missed the ac, just open the window.lol

On a humorous note....isn't it funny that the A/C delete threads are posted in the winter and the 'help....my a/c has stopped working' threads are posted in the summer.

    Continue........lol
