    Am I mad?

When I bought the V70 a few weeks ago, Seb gave me the original SC900 head unit along with the installed Sony aftermarket jobbie. While the Sony is faultless, I'd like to go back to the OEM look, but fit a 901 head unit along with the centre speaker.

Has anyone done this - retro fitted a centre speaker along with the 901 and its Dolby processor? I know I'll need the top dash panel to fit the centre speaker.

Also, will the Dolby processor have been fitted along with the 900 originally? Don't want to buy bits unnecessarily

    Thanks as always!

The surround setup requires an amp to be installed (under the seat I think) so if the HU doesn't have the "double D" on it, you won't get surround sound.

    I think

Mine has the central speaker with the SC900, the only difference between the 900 and 901 seems to be that you can have the pro logic on with the radio on the 901, whereas with the 900 it only works on CD.

stribo - there are mixed views on the benefit of the centre speaker - what do you think - is it worth the effort/expense to fit it? Some rave about it, while others say they can barely tell the difference...????

New dash top, amp to be fitted as well, imho it's not really worth the effort/expense, have you thought of fitting a Grom unit so you can stream tracks from your phone etc.

TBH, I don't notice much difference with the centre speaker in either the C70 or the S60.

Thanks mate, but I'd rather get the dash and speaker together - at least I know the brackets are all there. I've seen a few on ebay, one at £25 recently, but finding that dash top is another story...
