    Interior fan not working.

My interior fan seems to be stuck on the lowest setting and no amount of twiddling with the knob is working lol

Anyway, you can still hear the sytem when it you change the fan direction, just no changes in speed. Any advice what it could be?

    (oh 2004 s60 btw)

Is it manual or auto Air conditioning? I'm thinking it could be a software issue or a resistor that's gone, perhaps try disconnecting the battery, bring the black and red cables together for 30 seconds, reattach to the battery and see if that helps.

Do the lights flash on the aircon controls??? I had this on my S70, and it ended up being the motor. Dead easy to replace though

Its auto air condition (climate control) and theres no lights flashing or anything to let you know there's a problem.

It did work for a few minutes this morning, so managed to turn it up to get the windscreen defrosted, but then just got stuck on the higher setting. Which, although annoying, isn't as much an issue as the fact that the fans now stay on even when the engine is off and the key has been removed.

I went back out to the car after about 45mins at work this morning, and they were still running, so now i've removed the fuse so the battery doesn't go flat.

Sounds like the BMW problem, the "hedgehog" resistor issue. Not to 100% sure if the Volvo's have one, but I could of sworn the motors have some sort of resistor built into the side. All's you need to do is drop the glove box, about 5 torx screws, and you'll see it mounted behind it. Another 3 large torx screws and it comes out.

Actually, it DOES sound like the resistor's gone, as it cant regulate the speed of the motor and doesn't want to switch off!

Try that first, same thing apply's when getting to it

Usually if the resistor goes the fan just works flat out or not at all.

You can alter the speed for a few minutes, then it just stays on at (certain) speed. This morning it simply didn't work at all, when it does work it stays on even when the key is removed.
