Did the weekly shopping run and the old girl has got one hell of a turbo whine so much so it sounds like a supercharger.
The only thing I've done is to fit a S60R tcv instead of the 850 BCS.
Could the tcv be causing all the noise from the turbo ?

1996 850 T5 AWD - Self tuned M4.4 ECU with COP`s, B5254T ( S60R internals in a 850 block ) ostrich 2.0 , VXR injectors @ 3.8 bar, K24 turbo with a 6+6 compressor wheel, 3.25" MAF, top mounted Dump Valve, RN Exhaust manifold, 3" downpipe with 200 cell cat, 2.75" Stainless exhaust, Brembo calipers, S60R brake discs, stainless RIP kit, 3" Throttle body,
A whiney turbo is usually a turbo with a collapsing centre bearing in my experience!
Refitted the bcs and the whine stopped.
Looks like tcv is faulty.

The direct replacement TCV from 850 to V70 -1999 is part number 9155936 which the one i bought new for my `97 V70 T5
The later TCV`s are 9473212 2000 - 2002
30670448 2003
The later ones operate at a different boost level at different revs and load!.......so the extra load at the wrong revs for your motor/ECU may be causing the extra stress on the turbo?
