Dipstick Oil Leak - PCV System and O-Ring Replaced

I have an oil leak around my dipstick tube hole where it enters the sump, when i researched this it looked like it was mainly caused by a blocked PCV system so i replaced the system and the dipstick O Ring but i still have a leak when i push the car hard

If anyone could give me some advice it would be really appreciated

    Will,

Yeah im certain its in position, Ive dismantled the intake side quite a few times now

Im pretty sure its coming from the dipstick, as i can see the O Ring looks quite oily. Il get it up on a jack tomorrow and tell you for certain

Where did you get the pcv kit from? Have you cleaned out holes going in the block and the ptc valve in the intake pipe? Is there smoke coming out of the dipstick when you pull it out?

Easy check is to remove the PCV catch tank and attach a length of 5/8" diameter rubber hose to the lower port in the front face of the engine block where the PCV tank connects, if you can blow through it and hear the oil bubbling in the sump the return port isn't blocked, if you can't blow through the hose the port is probably still blocked down in the bowels of the sump - Sump removal is the best option to sort this out but removal of the PCV tank and blowing through the hose is worth the effort before pulling the sump - Mike

    Hi Guys,

There wasnt much buildup around the holes in the block, the PCV system is from PartsForVolvos along with the o-ring for the dipstick tube

Thanks for the writeup Mike, i will give this a go. I hope this isnt the case as its cold and wet working out on the street

This shows where to connect the 5/8" hose to which you then try to blow through:

If you end up taking the sump off get a new set of O rings for the oil lift pipe/ sump you can see the PCV drain port running down through the sump in this picture and at the bottom where the channel turns upward through about 160 degrees, you can't clean this last section of the drain channel without removing the sump if it is indeed blocked:

You can see the PCV oil drain port in the sump with the baffle plates removed, NOTE I only removed the baffle plates for the photograph, you don't need to go this far to clean out the port:

Hope the pictures are of some help - Mike
