Later v40's are on, full stop. My 04 plate was like that but my 52 plate can be turned on and off as read.

Just take the bulbs out then simples
T35, 556Nm/410lbft & 361BHP/317WHP
850 has a little screw on the switch
V70 - can't do anything

It doesnt bother me that they are permanently on, but you cant just switch to sidelights only. But if they are supposed to be like that...

You need to electronically disable them.

If its your S40 then try this
Ignition at pos 0
Turn light switch to 'sidelights'
Ignition to pos II
Pull on full beam and hold
Turn light switch to '0'
Release full beam
Ignition off
