    S70 B5234T3 '98 model cylinder head swap

    Hi folks, happy Saturday

Finally finally got round to looking at swapping the cylinder head on the Shark.

The head is the one from Blackbeast's car, with some machining work by Tim Williams (I will dig out the spec on it). Does anyone have any recommendations for jobs that should be done before fitting?

    Timing belt tensioner
    Water pump
    ME7 manifold
    Valve seals/seating
    ???

'Consumables' I will need cylinder head bolts, a gasket/seal kit, timing belt....I'm looking for the best place to source genuine/equal quality items.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated. I'll get the PCV stuff done also while in there, that I already have.

Hope to get this all done prior to Crail on the 16th!!

    Head job :

Inlet ports knife edged on the divider and tapered to the seats that are increased by 24-28% in area. Inlet valves were smoothed and radiused to blend with the seat.

Every other exhaust port has a large flow restriction under the seat, these were removed. The exhaust guides and shrouds were ground back by 6mm and the port around the guide made round. The divider was blended from the seats to a knife edge. Exhaust valves were refaced to give a larger sealing area and the valve backs polished.

Cam cover was modified to fit another oil filler cap ala touring car style and the pcv outlet on top of the cover ground down so that a jubilee clip could be used.

Sounds like a piece of junk. Let me do you a favour and give you a tenner for it - save you taking it down the scrappers to weigh in

Depends on what they're like? Must admit when I put a 531 head on my 940T I did the lot - new guides, seats, and seals. My thinking was that I didn't want to pull the head again anytime soon lol.

Took the plunge and got all gaskets, seals & bolts from a main dealer, plus a cam belt kit. I think the valve seals have been replaced so leaving them alone. Got a discount via Shem of Shemtek, who is doing the head swap for me
