    Double check!!

Have you checked the Number plate lights?
Also, remember, you have two side light bulbs per rear light cluster.

The rear lights have 3 bulbs in each side their two that face the rear and one that lights up the side marker bit.

Only 54> use 4 x LED side marker bulbs in the rear light clusters. Early 03-04 cars don't have LED side markers. The side marker is a clever use of plastic angled lenses that reflect some of the light from the rear side light bulbs. There are ONLY two side lights per rear light cluster.

I stand corrected!! Is that the same for a V70, only I have never seen a side marker bulb for mine.

I don't know to be honest as you say the 2005 on has the LEDs ,but never looked at a 2004 car.
