    Devastated

I've taken my car out today to have the brake bias checked, it was fine which made me happy but on the way back I've got a bit excited on a local straight mile. Yesterday I turned my boost down & noticed the waste gate didn't feel right when I adjusted the actuator. It felt ok on the road but when I tested it & my boost was sound. Today I've given it some & it boosted somewhere over 20psi before cutting really savagely. I've got the car home but really sounds like I've bent a rod.
Think my waste gate has stuck open perhaps as it just went mental.
    Absolutely gutted.
Think I may need an engine.

If your waste gate was stuck open you would little or no boost.

If you`ve bent a rod it`s not the end of the world just ask Frankie he`s bent a few in his time

as Rob and Carl have said if the wastegate stuck open you would have very little or no boost as the exhaust gases would mostly be by-passing the turbine, now the waste gate stuck shut is more likely especially if you had adjusted up the actuator arm by tightening it, this would hold it shut longer thus boost levels could increase

What kind of noise is it making? Boost cut is normal when it's trying to defend itself and is supposed to happen before you doi Any real damage (well, providing youre not running silly boost already)

Here's hoping its something silly like a leaking exhaust manifold gasket or a loose plug.

Because you've machined away whatever it's hitting.

it doesnt work like that and that wasnt the first time that it had made that noise then dissapeared, if it is a rod it willl constantly make a noise, the noise may get quieter over 1000's of miles but it won't disappear from one day to the next

`cos you have just been adjusting the actuator rod did the rod come off while pushing hard and the cut was the wastegate opening quickly so brickwall effect and now the tap is the actuator rod just rattling??

You will have to check things.

Don`t tell anyone but when i had the 18T fitted i decided that it did`nt care too much as i wanted forged rods so i was careless setting up the mbc and i have been on 25psi at 120mph and also 23psi quite often while trying to get it down to a steady 20psi and my motor is still quiet as anything.......admitted the revs were up and not low down which i avoid at any cost on WOT.
