Thanks. Yeah still got the S60R. It's currently at Tim Williams. Having a few niggles sorted, full service and going over, and a custom map from Shark (as soon as they are available!).

They are such different cars. The S60 is very good at everything, but whichever way you look at it, it just isn't as fun to drive as the 850! Even in its current mechanical state (which isn't brilliant at all!), the 850 is very enjoyable to just go for a rag. I can't wait to get the mechanicals sorted.

That's what I'm thinking with mine (just got a 2007 S60R auto)......not as much point & squirt as the old T5...we shall see! That reminds me I need to give Tim a shout about an intercooler too, instead of the Laurel & Hardy nonsense that's currently living under the front bumper :j

    Update time!!

The 850 is now in the hands of Mr Williams!

Whilst it's starting to look the part, I make no bones about it, mechanically it is(was) an absolute ££££ing ££££ter!!! (no offence Cherry!)

Tim found it had more than 10 fault codes just relating to the ABS!!! LOL! Having V70R clocks, it had no ABS light on the dash. The clocks are going back to standard, on reflection the blue R dials form the x70's just don't suit the 850 at all.

Anyhoo, Tim has started working his way through the car, and ordering parts that need replacing - THERE IS A LOT!!!! Not upgrades just general parts to make it decent! This project is waaaaay beyond just bolting on some nice new performance parts!

But we have a game plan, a needless to say it'll be a beast when it's done!

I know what you mean about maintenance issues. My car is standard from the factory and I haven't done the body work apart from a quick mop up but I started at one number plate and finished at the other.

I did some items you haven't mentioned, I under sealed all the underside, wheel arches and replaced the rear bumper brackets and under sealed the chassis rails as far as possible and the front end as well. Any rust was treated at the same time (only superficial).

Delve a bit deeper, past the new shiny exterior to find what beasties lurk below.

A little teaser courtesy of Mr W!

How many ABS codes do you have? Is this even possible?!!!?!

Don't be jealous of this factory fresh engine bay!

Do you suppose the heater matrix is knackered??!

    Things are cracking on!

The car has mountains of new parts, radiator, heater matrix, air con condensor, all new ABS sensors, rear disc/pads, suspension components... The bloody thing is gonna be brand new underneath!

Tim has done the engine - S60R 2.5l, shimmed, retaining the R rods and pistons, ported & flowed 850 cylinder head, NA cams, D5 Oil cooler, VXR injectors, ported ME7 manifold, TW Throttle Body, etc...

Brand spanking new 19t ready to bolt on, with a Ferrita down pipe and a Miltek cat back.

Later M56 gearbox, now with a spanking new gripper installed.

BC coilovers, with alternative rear springs (Tims recommendation)

AP Racing calipers have been sent off to Brake Caliper Refurbs, to be rebuilt and refinished in white with black lettering.

I've ordered an AEM FAILSAFE afr/boost gauge & a carbon fibre works door mounted gauge pod.

HID's, US style indicators, amongst lots of other bits and bobs.

Had a rethink on the steering wheel. I have sent the original R steering wheel to Jack at Royal Steering Wheels. I'm having it made thicker, and thumb grips added. Black leather and dark grey alcantara insert.

Hopefully we should be somewhere near by the end of the year.

Oh, and got another set of Volans, which are being refurb'd. Then need to order some new rubber, probably Conti Sport Contact 5's in 215/45/17.

The current Volans, I'll use for track tyres.

I've opted for a boggo new 19t. Reliability is key for me. The results Tim has had with Andy's (Redbrick) car on a 2.5 bottom end are amazing. Running 1bar to 4000rpm, then 1.4bar to the red line, with supporting mods makes 360bhp & 400+ft/lb's IIRC.
