    What condition?

And can anyone suggest the difficulty in replacement? I read a few pages online today, suggesting not to trust Haynes etc.
It would also seem not to be an uncommon problem..

It's due a cam belt next month, so maybe a good time to get it booked into garage and let them get spanner rash!
It's in good condition, I bought it off ebay for our R, but it was the wrong one. The one I have is the one on the left:

Try a good 2nd solenoid by all means but usually 99% it is the pulley that malfunctions!!

With your misfire you should have a recycling noise and when the connector is pulled for the solenoid the noise goes away as it is not being activated.......you may be lucky that it is the solenoid but if no difference then the VVT pulley will be faulty...

Didnt notice a recycling noise, Sounded like there were stones in the crankcase! Also sounded Cam'med, like my old Mini with its Race/Rally Cam!
    Took me back.

When you say recycling, Would you mean a clicking, as the drive tries to pull the cam/pulley back?
