After all the wind and rain of last weekend, I got into the car at 07:00 Monday morning, put by rucksack behind the drivers seat and drove to work. got out of the car with a wet arse, took by rucksack out of the back and it was soaking.
Went to the car later, when it was daylight and the passenger footwell behind the drivers seat was absolutely sodden.
Having survived the bad weather the previous week, I can only assume the wind direction and strength was such it was enough to blow water between the roof and windows on the drivers side. (passenger side was fine)
As I realised this could be a serious problem down the line I phoned the local garage I use and took it in for them to look at. So, seats and carpet taken out and dried and fortunately they have an ultrasonic leak tester. Sure enough, they found 2 leaks.
The first was a result of the drivers window not closing quite far enough into the rubber channel to form a seal. Window adjusted to seat properly.
The second was on the A frame seal. Water was getting inside the door, dripping down onto the winder motor, splashing across to the door card and running down and along to the passenger footwell.
The expanded foam which should have been stuck on the inside of the door, wasn't and was pretty much destroyed by water. New foam on its way from Sweden, via Ipswich, Luton and Bristol
So far, testing has shown the leaks are fixed so just waiting on the foam for the doors and the bill
As I intend keeping the car for a while I thought it a good idea to get it sorted properly particularly as I don't have access to a garage.
