Question matte hand prints & various scratches on black paintwork...

    Hi Guys
although the panelwork on my recently acquired V70 is very straight it has quite a few really matte (white looking) hand prints/smudges on it. looks like kiddies hands from the size of them.
touching everything they shouldn't! it also has its fair share of scratches, some down to the light undercoat. well it is a couple of weeks over 14 years old now..
it looks lovey in the rain lol
what are my options for tidying it up a bit?
i've never had a black car before, always avoided them as i don't like cleaning/polishing.. i could go months without cleaning my silver s8
are the "colour magic" branded polishes any good? i guess for a tenner a bottle its gotta be worth a go
i suppose i could get it mopped. whats the paint thickness like on these? am i likely to go straight through?

i dont want it to look showroom fresh. but i definitely want it to look less scruffy than it does now

Hi Buddy, Black cars are simply a nightmare, they look so fresh wen you have just polished them, but drive it a few mins down the road you see road dust everywhere.

When i 1st got mine the paint was very flat, and had loads of deep scratches, I washed her claybar'd it polished it wasnt happy with the finish so compounded the worst panels with Farcela G3 Medium grade by hand then polished her and sealed the polish with a canuba wax. she's looking very fresh these days, but im always cleaning the dam thing lol.

    Parts for Volvos online buddy,

    http://www.partsforvolvosonline.com/...oducts_id=7268

I took the slash off the original volvo grille, and put it on the egg crate, some peeps use the later slash from xc90's etc

its helps having a Garage tbh. Autoglym Ultra Deep is a very good polish, and will fill in most scratches/marks in the paint the more you do it the better it will look and last longer between washes

ha ha. probably would be a better colour however a black one works out quite well if i end up putting some vinyl on it as my main sponsors logos are all bright green on a black background...
