I had a low oil condition which remained undiscovered for about a week - just general bimbling about. I topped the engine up as soon as I found out. About a week later I did a full oil and filter change 24 hrs prior to running at Santa Pod. There were no indications of any issues. I did the full day - without issue. Went to the pub, watched James Clancy's 855 being carted off with a holed gearbox casing. I was 3 miles shy of the M1, with Smithy onboard (due to James's lack of gearbox) when a noise started to eminate from under the bonnet. Got recovered back - shell bearing on #2 had completely disintegrated. Cause was never positively identified. 2.4 is not an option because I already had the internals and I wasn't going to throw it all away. That was 6 months ago.

Actually it wasn't, it was designed for two pressure sensors, an aftermarket sensor and the idiot light sensor.

You want to know the overall temp of the oil, the largest quantity is in the sump, thats where the temp sender needs to be.

So - should I tap the sump somewhere for the temp?

You can get sump plugs that are tapped to take temp sensors

OED says you can have either, and from what I can see from other word forums there is no consensus for the past tense of the verb to spin. I therefore kindly offer my wet middle finger so you can spin on it LOL.

Hopefully she'll come back bigger and better than before.

I'm no genius, but you mention 4 sensors mounted on a T piece????

and sort of agree with your sump location, only I would think thats the cool(ed) oil about to be returned to service????

Sorry, there should have been a semicolon instead of the comma.

Hope you get it all fixed Dave, the engine mods in that car are a credit to you as I've seen with my own eyes.
