    new filter.....what a difference!

Bought a green cotton panel filter to replace the paper one in the airbox.

What a difference! The lumpy throttle control has gone, the boost dropping in & out, gone. Now pulls hard right through the rev range. Arguably the best £35 I've ever spent on a car. I'm still not a fan of this map but at least it does the job now the engine can breathe properly.

The brand is 'green cotten filters' - www.greenfilters.com

I'd heard a few positive things on various forums about them vs k&n, cone filters etc..so thought of give one a go. Need cleaning every 10k but looks easy enough.

Hang on a minute, I thought performance air filters were supposed to add horsepower, not take it away...? Am I missing some important info here? Please explain.....

K&N air filters are supposed to be the best from what I've read. Once I've got all the bits and pieces done on the car (I'm getting there slowly), I plan to start modifications to bring the performance up a rung or two. I'll be looking seriously at a K&N induction filter but please feel free to suggest better filters if you know of any.

I also want to go down the silicone pipe route and uprated Intercooler in the long run but to be honest, I think I'm a fair way off that at the moment.
