    Down Pipe query..........

Hi all, I have been wanting a 3in DP for my Pre ME7 V70R awd. But it seems as though there is nothing off the shelf and apparently there is no way to make one due to the space.

    My question is...

Is the problem with space due to the prop shaft ? or is is the underside of the car different to the FWD versions???

I ask this as im not running the awd on mine , so no propshaft. Therefore, am i right in think i should be able to fit a normal FWD Downpipe to my car?? If so, i want one of Grahams DP's asap lol

    Thoughts appreciated

Are they different? as the P2 AWD dp is the same as the FWD.

The S60R turbo isn't the other way round, mounted the same as the rest, the only difference between the S60R and the 2.4 T5 is the V band.

Graeme has been looking into making one for a while. But in other threads people had said he will struggle due to space. Im just thinking now that would be on a fully working awd car with all the trimmings.

Oblark may be the man to ask, he's seen both systems close up.

Standard 18t straigh flange . Inlet from n/s and exhaust side on the o/s. Same as FWD t5. Everything on my car is the same as a standard R expect rear brakes, rear suspension and Bloody downpipe

Just found out that the propshaft isn't the problem, it's the angle gear box that gets in the way, which is why as Daza B said, it needs a swan neck.

    Good dam it.

Well atleast there is hope anyway. The fact there is a standard 3in that has been made and fitted is promising.

I though it was the brake master caused the problem & the steering rack, column got in the way as there not a problem on Left hand drive cars ?.

I've measured & measured mine again with my digital vernier & I agree with what don & few others have said. It's not just the angle gear/transfer box that gets in the way but part of the steering assembly also. That's why lhd awd' can accommodate it, the wheels on the other side....
You can have a 3" going down the the offensive foulings then I reckon at a push you could fit a 2.75 pipe but that would be rather tight to fit & have you tried getting a awd down pipe off?!
    Nightmare.
Glad your keeping it mate & hope your feeling better.
Good it's not put you off power.

Thanks Biff. Im much better now. The bike has gone, so im sticking to 4 wheels where i feel comfortable. I decided to get a tdi polo and keep the volvo instead of selling the bike and volvo to get a audi /bmw diesel. I love volvo power to much. If the right buyer came along and offered the right amount i would probably sell it, but the money would only go on another Volvo.

Good effort mate, I respect a bike & see it as a thing of beauty but I won't have one after losing a close mate on a quiet road without speed. The engine seized, the back wheel locked & threw him into a tree. 4 wheels all day, at least you have a cage around you. Lol
Anyway glad all is good & you won't go far wrong with a polo diesel.
Let us know your findings on the dp.
